Sony reveals a9 mirrorless camera (ILCE-9) – their first pro-level series starts here
Today in the early hours of AEST, Sony announced the A9 mirrorless camera their first in the line up of a9 series (alpha 9) which seems like an all new professional series as they claims. For a long period of time it has been anticipated that Sony will release a pro level mirrorless camera. Finally their research and testing ended up in a all new level mirrorless system which compensates for all the missing features of theri existing line up of A7 and A6000 series cameras.

As expected Sony added brand new features to a9 to make it to the professional level starting with all new 24.2 megapixel full-frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with integrated memory and an enhanced BIONZ X image-processing engine, double memory card slots( which many were calling for), an over the double capacity battery compared to previous cameras, 20fps burst and blackout free shooting, more external controls with not much change in form factor (size), 693 phase-detection AF points, a super 3686k-dot eEVF and 6K downsampled 4K video shooting. See above official Sony product feature video of a9.
